Life
Jesus was born in a small province at the edge of the Roman Empire, to a working family in a modest town. He worked, by tradition, as a carpenter until roughly the age of thirty.
For approximately three years he traveled the Galilee and Judea teaching, healing, and telling stories. He was, in his lifetime, a controversial figure — welcomed by outcasts, resisted by authorities.
He was executed by Roman crucifixion around the age of thirty-three. What happened next is the subject of every conversation his followers have had ever since.
This entry treats Jesus as one of humanity's great teachers of love and forgiveness — a stance shared, in different ways, by billions who consider him more than that.
